Monday, March 2nd, 2009Idea #1 “Working with out the pressure of success”
This idea comes from Guerrilla Girls and their manifesto. Although i feel that some progress has been made in women artist getting some credit, a particular statement they made really struck me. “Whatever kind of work you make, it will be labeled feminine” This little phrase i think carries a lot of punch.
So my first idea was to make small square stickers approx. 2.5X2.5 that would state “Everything i do is feminine”. These would be ideal for those horrible subway advertisements that are about becoming a monk, drinking lots of alcohol, reading a scary novel by the best seller, and all other general trash they post up that no one wants associated with them.

Idea #2 “Encouragement”
My next idea stems from a project by Miranda July http://learningtoloveyoumore.com/reports/63/63.php.
In this project the participant is encouraged to make a banner with something encouraging. This project always seemed specially appealing because there are lots of signs in the world telling us what not to do, or lots of boring things to do, or how horrible we are, but rarely something nice. But a banner is not going to make it new york.
Here i propose small color coding label stickers the 3/4’s of an inch kind (used in garage sales) with small encouraging messages, or just amazing things to know. John talked about stickers that are hidden so you feel special when you find them, and thats what these stickers would focus on.

Idea #3 Wishin’
This idea stems from my severe separation anxiety from trees. I’d like to make small sticker strips (like label maker style) that would just read “I wish this were a tree”. These would then go around anything that is not a tree. In this city that is a lot of places.
